Today I experimented with a green screen and concluded that it works best outside using natural light. This may be because the light covers the whole of the green screen, whereas artificial lights only illuminate parts of the screen, which does not work as well. This means I can only film outside when the weather is suitable.

I will film an explanation of how to use it and upload it.

Branding of Chris Sheehan

Chris Sheehan is an acoustic artist. Light colours usually represent this style of music such as cream and white.

Colour Scheme examples:

It is also a very 'raw' genre of music. Nature is also a theme that should run throughout his image as it is usually connected with the acoustic genre. Images of forests, rivers and fields are represented by this style.

Using these ideas within the Branding of Chris Sheehan will make the audience automatically aware that he is an acoustic artist. It also would fit extremely well with the sound and style of the music and would supply Chris Sheehan with his own individual image.

The colour schemes and the natural image will occur throughout each of the products. For example, an image that appears within the music video may also be used on the website and on the cover of the album. This would link them all together and once again complete his image as an acoustic artist.

Analysis of Music Video's

Initial ideas for "Everyone Cares" video

There are lots of examples of imagery within the lyrics that I can use as a basis for my video. For example:

"you swapped your conscience for gold and silver - twenty pieces would do" This could be shown within the video as a literal image such as twenty coins of gold and siver being dropped, being picked up etc.

"that’s not a door I’ll go through". An image of a door could be used for this particular line. You could also have a person walking through the door to contradict the lyrics.

"Silly to think you’d land on your feet" An image of a feet can be used here. For example, I could video someone jumping off an object on to the ground and then change the video to slow motion.

"Always would I hold out my hand, Feeling for fingers" The image of two people holding hands comes automatically to my mind when I hear this particular line.

The song has quite a slow pace, but it is also quite energetic. During the chorus, an image of someone dancing comes to mind, so I may include this idea within my music video.

Lyrics to "Everyone Cares"

Everyone Cares (but no one can help)

Sorry, you can’t license your soul
You sold it when you swapped your conscience for gold
And silver - twenty pieces would do
I promise that’s not a door I’ll go through

Well everyone cares, but no one can help
They need all their cash to save an asteroid belt
everyone cares, but no one can help
forget all your wants and just be glad for your health

Silly to think you’d land on your feet
You can’t get sunshine from every firefly you meet
Always would I hold out my hand
Feeling for fingers, but never could understand

How everyone cares, but no one can help
They need all their cash to save an asteroid belt
Everyone cares, but no one can help
You gotta breathe on your own and make some luck for yourself

Permission from Chris Sheehan

I sent Chris Sheehan an email asking for his permission to use songs from the band "The Bench Connection" and recieved this reply:

Hiya Sam,

Of course! I'd love you to. It would help me more if it was my solo album really, but whatever you like is cool with me...

You can download the album free here...

And if you send me your address I'll post you all a couple of proper copies.

I then sent him an email explaining that I would like to use his song, "Everyone Cares":

Hey Sam,

Really looking forward to seeing what you come up with for Everyone Cares - I want you do whatever you feel. Go creatively crazy. I imagine it suits something more animated, but you do whatever you feel like doing.
Did you ever see the smashing pumpkins video for Tonight Tonight? I always liked that vibe too - but hey--- BIG budget going on there.

But the animated bits these days with computers must be doable. Anyhow - good luck with it all!

I kinda like this too by the way - it's some young guy in Brighton - I like that he used old bank statements. I used to write lyrics on the back of benefit letters hoping it would bring me luck!

Here's the lyrics - let me know how you get on, and thanks for using my stuff, it's a big compliment.

Changing my artist

I have recently come in to contact with another acoustic artist who's work I was previously familiar with. His sound is a lot more advanced and proffessional than that of "Accidental Hero". The new artist is called "Chris Sheehan". I think his music would fit extremely well with my style of film making. The song I have chosen of his is "Everyone cares (But no one can help)". I approached him and asked if I could use his music from "The Bench Connection" (An acoustic duo he was in) and he replied saying that it would be a much bigger help if I could use his solo music within my coursework.
There are several problems with using Chris Sheehan, but they are ones I can work around. For example, he already has a website and an album cover produced. However I will just produce my own versions of them, and if he decides he prefers my designs to the one's he already has, then he can use them.
